What is
DTF?
Unlike most hacking competitions found in most hacker conferences,
DTF is different in 2 ways. DTF is primarily targeted at
attracting IT professionals who are new to the security scene
who want to learn more about securing their Windows networks
and have an appreciation of the current threat environment.
The emphasis of DTF is more on defense rather than offence.
DTF will also include a training component to introduce
to the participants the basic concepts of offensive and
defensive security measures. This year, the offensive training
will be conducted by Immunity and
the defensive training will be conducted by iSec
Partners.
Everyone is welcome to take part in DTF and win the cash
prize of HK$15,000.
DTF will be held on 1st and 2nd of July 2008 at
Novotel Clarke Quay.
Modus Operandi
Any individual can sign up.
The first day of the DTF will be classroom training conducted
by members of Immunity and iSec partners.
Immunity will lead a session designed to teach attendees
to not only think like an attacker but also to use current
tools that are used by Penetration Testers today to act
like attackers. iSec Partners will teach defensive techniques
and best practices for securing Windows networks.
On the second day of DTF, the class will be divided in
2 groups; Group Alpha and Group Omega. Members in Group
Alpha will conduct attack against members in Group Omega,
which will try to defend, in the morning, and in the afternoon,
members in Group Omega will attack members in Group Alpha,
which will try to defend.
A scoring bot will monitor the competition and score the
members based on their ability to successfully defend their
Windows networks. The member with the most number of points
at the end of the day will be the winner.
